The most famous of all the betting systems is the Martingale System. This system is said to work best on even money bets but it can be applied to any bet. It is best not to try the Martingale System in slots as we will see.

The idea in this system is to double your bet after you lose a spin or a hand. The problem is that after even three losses in a row you would be asked to make a very large bet in order to win your original bet back.
Gamers Use a Betting System on Certain Kinds of Bets
Let’s say that you are playing the so-called even money bets in roulette. Now, there are no pure even money bets in roulette because of the zero but let’s assume that there are even money bets. Let’s say that you bet $5 and you lose. Then you bet $10 and win. So, after two spins you have lost $5 and won $10.
This is all you can ever win in total in this system: you can win back your original bet.

A Short Losing Streak is as Common as a Short Winning Streak
Now you bet $20 in order to win back your original $5 bet. You have $15 in losses and $20 in wins. Okay, you won your original bet back. But what happens if we extend the losing streak to four spins.
Bet 3: $20 Bet loses.
Bet 4: $40 Bet loses.
Now The Shock Happens
Now you are asked to bet $80 in order to win back your initial $5 bet! Very few people would make such a bet which is why the Martingale System ultimately has to fail. The RNG is so random that you will have some short losing streaks. They are all part of the gaming experience.
Sure, the losing streaks are not fun but the winning streaks are fun. And there are as many winning streaks as losing streaks since the RNG has no memory at all.
No Game is “Due”
The example about the Martingale System as it relates to the random number generator can be extended to any game. No game is due to win a big jackpot because the RNG does not know that it is due. Every spin or hand in any game is a unique experience for the RNG and has no connection at all to any previous hand or spin.
In video poker, the chances of hitting a Royal Flush are 1 in about 40,000 hands. So, if you have been keeping count and have gone 39,999 hands without a Royal Flush, you might think that a Royal Flush is due to hit. The reality of the RNG is that every hand is like the first hand. The RNG does not keep count and, therefore, doesn’t know that a Royal Flush is due.
Avoid All Betting Systems in Slots
We said earlier that slots are the last game to play using a betting system. That’s because even when you have a winning spin, the win might not cover all of the few previous losses. In slots, a win with one character or symbol may be less or more than a win with a different character or symbol.
