Here at Everygame Online Casino, we offer games of chance and games of skill. The game of skill that will be our focus here is video poker. A gamer who wants to have fun and reduce losses can do so by avoiding mistakes. Now, we understand that the term “avoid mistakes” sounds like a negative. We would like to turn this into a positive goal.
The greater degree to which you can avoid mistakes, the more fun you will have gaming here at Everygame Casino.
There are Few Possible Mistakes in the Games of Chance
The most popular game of chance at any casino, be it an online casino such as Everygame or a land-based casino, will be slots. One mistake a gamer can make in slots is to bet too much. Here at Everygame, most of our slots return about 97% of all money bet back to gamers
However, there is a difference between slots with high volatility and slots with low volatility. This term refers to how many gamers will share in the wins. In slots with high volatility, there are relatively few winners but each wins relatively a lot. If you get lucky playing a slot with high volatility, you will probably finish a session in the black.
A slot with low volatility means that there are many winning spins and that each winning spin returns relatively little to games. You can still win in the end, of course, but you will still need a good dollop of luck to do so.
So, the entertainment value and fun you can derive from playing slots depends on which type of slot you play. High rollers tend to play slots with high volatility such as progressive jackpot slots. The average gamer would see his or her fun factor go up if they concentrated their slots play on slots with low volatility.
Roulette and Craps Have Confusing Tables
In craps, the best bet is don’t pass after the point has been set. Players who bet before the point has been set take a chance that the point will be a number that has a poor chance of winning. But, if you wait until the point is set and bet, don’t pass, you will have the best chances of winning in the long run at craps.
Roulette has 0 and 00. American Roulette has both while European Roulette has only the 0. This means that the return to player rate in European Roulette is much higher than in American Roulette.
Because of the zeros, there are no pure even money bets in roulette but players often act as if there is. Making sure that your bets don’t contradict each other is a main strategy in roulette.
Because of the so-called even money bets, a lot of gamers try to win by playing with a betting system. We have said this many times but it bears repeating: betting systems don’t work. If they did all casinos would soon go out of business.
The big flaw in all betting systems is that they ignore the very real possibility that a gamer will have a losing streak. Then, to continue with the system, the player would have to make a very irresponsible bet.
Now To Video Poker
Video poker is one of the two main games of skill at Everygame Casino, blackjack being the other one. Here we will concentrate on strategy in video poker and how to avoid making mistakes. Once again, we would like to reiterate that by the term “avoiding mistakes” we want to convey a positive tone.
Every hand is different. In blackjack, you have to decide on a course of action based on your point score and the dealer’s up card. In video poker, gamers look to create or keep the best possible hand. In standard video poker, you need at least a pair of jacks to win.
The First Decision You Have to Make
Will you bet the maximum in order to qualify for the extra payout for a Royal Flush? It seems that every statistician who writes about video poker says “yes”. This means that you will, in some hands, give up a winning pair in order to go for a Royal Flush!
It is not unusual for the best strategy to be to break up a winning pair to go after a much better hand.
Now That You Are Betting the Max, How Do You Proceed?
There are some hands that occur occasionally. You will never break up these hands. They include a Royal Flush, a straight flush, a full house, four of a kind, a straight, and a flush. With the single exception of the four-of-a-kind hand, all are hands that already use all five cards and cannot be improved.
Technically, a full house could be improved to four of a kind but it would be foolish in the extreme to break up a full house to go for a four-of-a-kind hand.
All other hands are hands that you can improve on and you will have to exchange cards in order to do so.
When Should a Gamer Break up a Winning Pair?
Until you get to a two-pair dealt hand, the decisions are or should be obvious. Now, if you have two pairs, you can give up one of the pairs to go for four of as kind. This is a serious mistake. Keep both pairs and go for a full house.
Now, let’s say that you have a winning pair and also four to a straight flush. Now you break up the pair because a straight flush is so much better. With three to a straight flush, you would keep the winning pair but with four, you go for the great hand.
This is especially true if you have a winning pair and four to a Royal Flush. Go for the elusive Royal Flush.
However, if you have four to just a straight or four to a simple flush plus a winning pair, you should keep the pair. It is better to try to improve the pair rather than shooting in the dark for a middling hand.
Never break a winning pair to go for a Royal Flush or a straight flush with just three to the big hand. You will improve the pair fairly often.
Everygame Casino Always Pays 9-6 in Video Poker
We have over 300 great games. Since the main point of this article has been video poker, we would like to comment on a trend that is happening at some land-based casinos. There are some casinos that pay only 8-5 or 7-5 for a full house and a flush.
We say that you should never play at a terminal that pays this poorly. The return to player rate in 9-6 video poker if you play aggressively and smart is about 99.5%. It is not nearly that high at an 8-5 or 7-5 terminal.
All in all, video poker is just one of about 330 great reasons to…
