This is going to be one of the most fun articles we have ever written here at Everygame Casino Red.  Let us set up the scenario.  You want to play some online casino games at Everygame Casino.  You set up a time frame and a monetary budget for gaming.

You follow all of the tips we have given over the years to facilitate great online casino gaming.  Now you curl up on your super comfortable sofa, these days you have a mobile device in hand since mobile has become the way to play, and you prepare to have a great time spinning a few slots, playing a few hands of blackjack or video poker, and generally enjoying the next hour or so.

And, you decide that you want to eat something and drink something while you play!  What should you eat or drink and what should you not eat or drink?

Don’t Drink Alcohol

We have been through this one many times.  The time to have a drink is later, when the effect of the alcohol cannot lead you astray into making poor decisions.

Not drinking alcohol is one of the biggest no-no’s we have and it is also one of the biggest yes-yesses at land-based casinos where the alcohol is free and the decisions tend to go from okay to poor to less than poor and so on.

Don’t Drink Anything That Might Easily Spill

Here we have to rely on your good judgment since we don’t know if you have a way to prevent spills.  But, since you are on your sofa, you probably would prefer a gaming session without any spills.

The no spills mantra includes water, soda, milk, (especially milk) and so on.  It probably includes any kind of hot drink since a spill might also cause an uncomfortable burn.

But you do want to drink something so let’s start with the most benign spillable drink which either plain water or sparkling water.  If you don’t have a coaster, you should spend a couple of dollars on a set of coasters.  The inexpensive ones are very inexpensive and they last forever.

Another way to prevent spills is to fill the glass or cup half way.

Shift Your Weight Empty-handed

When you game on the sofa, as comfy as the sofa is, you will want to shift your weight from time to time.  Make sure that you don’t have a drink in hand when you shift your weight.  Most spills occur during weight shifting.  They also often occur during stretching for the glass or cup so try to have a coffee table that follows Goldilocks rules: not too near and not too far.

One of the most popular drinks for gaming is a fruit shake or smoothie.  Here we have to segue into the expansive field of “what is healthy”.  A fruit shake is less likely to spill than a simple glass of water.  A fruit shake or smoothie might be very healthy or packed with sugar.

So, we have to talk about consuming items that are good for you.

Eat Things That Don’t Goo and are Also Good for You

Thus, a peanut better sandwich may be okay if the layer of peanut butter is thin and mostly attached to the bread.  Peanut better that is laid on thick is a major goo food.  To be avoided.

Adding jelly to a peanut butter sandwich is just asking for a goo-fest on your sofa.

How Can I Know What Foods are Good for Me?

That certainly is the question of the century.  Only toward the end of the twentieth century did so many “eating systems” become prominent.  By now, anyone who really wants to eat healthily has to choose between high carb or low carb, high fat or low fat, high protein or low protein, and a few in between.

We aren’t nutrition specialists here so we can only say that you need to listen to your body.  If a food that you eat over the long term seems to make you feel good, then it is probably good for you.  The reverse is true as well.  As far as what to eat while gaming, we can say that a food that is a kind of snack but isn’t greasy and that you can take with one hand is better than any food that you need two hands for.

A peanut butter sandwich is okay since you can take it with one hand but a grilled hamburger with all the trimmings is a giant no-no!  Cold cuts are okay if they are good for you but leave off the mustard.  If a cold cut sandwich without mustard is a game breaker for you, then that kind of sandwich is probably left for later.

Don’t even ask about tacos or tortillas!

We find that dry roasted tree nuts are good in moderation.  A sugar free popsicle may be a great gaming treat.  They do tend to melt pretty quickly so you have to take that into consideration.  Ice cream is a bit problematic not only because it is high in so many things that we now know are not good for us but also because it does need two hands to eat out of a cup.

Raw veggies that you can stomach raw are great.  Not everyone likes a raw carrot or celery stalk.  If you do, then this kind of gaming snack is great.  Beets are out of the question.  Your sofa would thank you if it could!

Homemade Snacks are a Lot Better Than Commercial Ones

We have a recipe for homemade crackers that don’t use any sugar or sugary product.  They are a bit crumbly so we break the big cracker into small pieces and then we take just a few pieces for a snack while gaming.

You can find an unlimited number of recipes for homemade snacks that don’t use sugar or lots of oil and so forth and taste great.  One food that we like is cornbread. Again, this can be crumbly so you will need a recipe that isn’t crumbly.
