One such decision is the length of time you will play. If a 30-minute session is fundamentally the best length of time for a gaming session, given your other interests and responsibilities, then you should play for no more than 30 minutes.
If you find yourself extending the gaming session, first by just a few minutes, and then by doubling the amount of time or going beyond that, you can and should recognize that gaming has become a kind of unhealthy obsession and perhaps you should stop casino gaming altogether!

So, let’s say that you are playing roulette and you bet on red on every spin of the wheel. If your starting bet was $5 and you lost, your next bet would be for $10. Now, if you win the second spin, you win the $10, and by subtracting the $5 you lost on the first spin, you win in the end a total of $5 or the exact equivalent of your original bet.
It Sounds Good. What’s the Problem?
What happens if you lose five spins in a row? This happens much more often than we would think since the Random Number Generator treats each spin as a unique event in itself unrelated to any spins previous to it.
Here are your bets for five losses in a row:
- $5
- $10
- $20
- $40
- $80
You have made and lost $155 in bets and to continue with the system, you have to bet $160 on the next bet. If you win, you win the same $5 that you won in the example we gave above where you won on the second spin.
So, you would be wagering $160 to win $5. This is not sound casino gaming! And that is the big flaw in all betting systems.
How to Become a Specialist
We spoke about becoming a specialist at the beginning of the article. Here we mean that in order to have the best statistical return to player rate, you have to study the strategy in the games of skill.
Card counting is effective only in single deck blackjack games and they are rare indeed these days. Still, there are many strategy decisions a player can make that will go a long way to putting the session in the black.
