Banana Jones
This game has really turned the online casino gaming world upside down. The amazingly creative people at SpinLogic decided to make a game that would be a spoof of the Indiana Jones movies. They set out to create the plot. The character in the game would have to be searching for a valuable piece of antiquity and bring it back to a museum where it belonged.
They had to decide what the piece would be and someone said that it should be made of crystal. Then the team brainstormed for the most ridiculous thing that could be a piece of antiquity and made of crystal.
After a long period of time in which none of the ideas seemed ridiculous enough, one of the team blurted out “the crystal banana”.
After they pulled themselves up from the floor, they all agreed that the crystal banana would be the item of antiquity that the character would be searching for.
Then came the question: “where is the crystal banana”? “It’s in the castle”, someone said. And that part of the creative effort was complete.
The next question was “How is the character going to get to the castle to free the crystal banana and take it to a museum where it belongs?”
Someone had the ridiculous idea to fashion a course that would be a take-off on Chutes and Ladders. This was considered a brilliant insight into the entire story line. Indiana Jones hated snakes so the chutes could be snakes.
From the corner of the room came a strong EEK! And the idea passed unanimously.
Soon vines were chosen to be the ladders. Everything seemed to be in place except they still didn’t have the central character. It had to have some similarity to Indiana Jones, right? It had to be hunky hunk of a man, right? They though about a take- off on Clutch Cargo and his sidekicks Spinner and Paddlefoot. But that seemed too obscure.
Then the Eureka moment hit and the person in the corner who had screamed EEK! said: “He has to be Banana Jones!” and so, it was. The EEK person chose to make the hero a pudgy little guy like the Pillsbury Man.
The final touch came about when, at the end of the quest and gamers win some money, Banana Jones yells out “whoo hoo, whoo hoo!”
