According to tradition, some events must be observed beforehand. The first full moon on or after the March equinox is the central piece, as Easter always falls on the first full Sunday after it. This whole process is called computus, Latin for “computation”. There's even a dedicated clock that helps calculating the date of Easter - fittingly called the “computus clock”.
Easter has borrowed some other symbols from its pagan roots. One of the most popular is, of course, the Easter Bunny. Rabbits and hares were often associated with spring and fertility (for some very obvious reasons). The Church also considered the hare a symbol of purity, born of an old belief that hares were actually hermaphrodites.
The Easter Bunny, originally the Easter Hare, itself is a German myth. According to it, the Easter Hare carried colored eggs, candies and sweets, delivering them to good children. Sounds incredibly familiar, doesn’t it? Well, you could say that the Easter Bunny has a distant human relative who lives at the North Pole.
