The Sun is also constantly bombarding Earth with energy. But how much energy are we talking about here? On average, the Sun bombards Earth with 174 petawatts (174 quadrillion watts) per day in the upper atmosphere. A single hour would be enough to fill out our energy demand for a whole year, making solar energy the most abundant form of renewable energy available.
And the longer we stray from the Sun, the longer it takes for a planet to complete a full orbit. Uranus, which also happens to spin sideways thanks to a peculiar 97-degree axial tilt, takes 84 Earth years to complete its orbit. Neptune takes even longer - 164.8 years! It means that Neptune has only completed one orbit since its discovery on September 23, 1846. Because of its unusual axial tilt, each one of Uranus’ poles will spend a whole 42 years in complete darkness!
