Out of this World: Interesting Space Trivia
The Apollo astronauts' footprints on the moon will probably stay there for millions of years. The moon has no atmosphere and there's no wind blowing and no water to wipe the footprints out.
There is an unfortunate high amount of space junk. Over 30,000 objects larger than 10cm have been catalogued as space junk. And they come in all shapes and sizes - from screws to toothbrushes, tools used by astronauts and rocket parts. Earth is constantly bombarded by space debris. They aren’t much of a threat, though, and will usually burn up in the atmosphere, well before hitting the ground.
The Sun is also constantly bombarding Earth with energy. But how much energy are we talking about here? On average, the Sun bombards Earth with 174 petawatts (174 quadrillion watts) per day in the upper atmosphere. A single hour would be enough to fill out our energy demand for a whole year, making solar energy the most abundant form of renewable energy available.
And the longer we stray from the Sun, the longer it takes for a planet to complete a full orbit. Uranus, which also happens to spin sideways thanks to a peculiar 97-degree axial tilt, takes 84 Earth years to complete its orbit. Neptune takes even longer - 164.8 years! It means that Neptune has only completed one orbit since its discovery on September 23, 1846. Because of its unusual axial tilt, each one of Uranus’ poles will spend a whole 42 years in complete darkness!
A Galactic Offer for Cosmo-Sized Wins
You can’t really talk about space travel without the help of a mad scientist. And that’s when Dr. Winmore comes in.
Inside his laboratory, Dr. Winmore is coming up with the next crazy experiment. His newest invention is the cascading wins feature, in which every win you score will make the symbols from that combination disappear and be replaced with new ones. This way, you can score multiple wins in a row, each one adding to the prize multiplier - which goes all the way up to 6x! Dr. Winmore’s robots will also join in to help, clearing out full columns of symbols while also adding a prize multiplier.
And now, we are off to our interstellar trip! Enter the coupon code GALACTICBLOG and play with 150% up to $5,000 + 50 free spins for Dr. Winmore.
